My Comments:
The premiere episode. This is the episode that introduces not only to Gabrielle, but to Gabrielle's sister,Lila and to Xena's mother, Cyrene. Also, we are introduced to Draco who will make 2 more appearances throughout the six seasons. This episode gets a five out of five possible chakrams from me because I liked all of the elements of the episode.
Darien Takle, a veteran actress out of New Zealand is an excellent choice to play Cyrene. Jay Laga'aia brings just the right element as Draco, the Warlord.
One question remains, what was Xena doing in the forest clearing where she first sees Gabrielle? Was she contemplating suicide? Or was she just giving up her warrior ways and looking for a more peaceful solution to her redemption?
