"Hooves" introduces a fan favorite and another character that'll be immortalized in fan fiction: Ephiny, the tough-as-nails amazon will turn up in several episodes to come not only on Xena but on Hercules as well and Eponin, the amazon who after this episode dropped off the face of the Xenaverse. She's immortalized in several fan fiction stories.

We learn more of Xena's past and her dealings with the Centaurs, the half-man/half-horse characters.

This is the introduction of Gabrielle's amazon storyline and she gets her first weapon, her trusty staff.

This is one of my season 1 favorites. What is there not love? We got Gab getting her staff, the introduction of one my favorite guest characters (Ephiny) and some good fun.
