Logline:
Roman history is blended with fiction in this dramatic episode.
The hour opens with tragedy, as Ephiny is killed by Brutus (David Franklin)
when she storms into a battle between Brutus and Pompey. Gabrielle (Renee O'Connor)
then becomes queen of the Amazons, and they want revenge. But Gabrielle has
seen enough of war, and Xena (who realizes that Ephiny's death was an accident)
finds and captures Brutus, knowing he can take her to the real enemy---Pompey.
She also knows that Brutus is a virtuous man, and she warns: “your faith
in Caesar is misplaced. One day you'll have to decide whether you're Caesar's
man, or your own.”

I originally gave this episode 4 chakrams, but after careful thought and analysis,
I've changed it to a 5 chakram episode. There is something about this episode that is so moving.
It is the first true challenge of Gabrielle's "new path" and you can see how much she wants to kill some Roman booty. She keeps it in check.
This episode also introduces Amarice, an amazon (or is she? hmm...).
